Affordable Honeymoon Packages

affordable honeymoon?

my fiance and i have been discussing honeymoon ideas, and our "dream honeymoon" would be to fly to nyc for a couple days, see a broadway show or two, then fly over to europe and visit a few of the standard tourist spots over there. (we're not really beach/cruise people.) but realistically speaking, there's no way we could afford something like that, especially since we're paying for the whole wedding ourselves. and i certainly don't want to ask our guests for money for the honeymoon instead of gifts, we should be thankful for whatever our guests want to give us, i don't want us to appear tacky and cheap. so, my question to my fellow low-budget brides out there, how do you afford a good honeymoon on top of paying for your wedding? anyone have links to affordable travel websites? we're from texas

  1. How much money do you have for a honeymoon? What about Mexico? Vegas? To bad about not being a cruise person, cruises to Mexico are really cheap and they leave at Galveston, TX www.expedia.com
  2. check out www.asuiteweek.com I booked my honeymoon through them. 7 days all inclusive for 1600 to tons of places. If you want to save money all inclusive is key because most of your unexpected expenses come from trying to eat and drink out. Unfortunately I had to cancel my honeymoon to have surgery so I have to sell my trip. If you like where they travel email me and I'll sell you mine for a huge discount. Another option would be to look at some of the Caribbiean crusies that leave out of Florida. New Mexico and the Rockies are also gorgeous.
  3. I'd suggest getting in touch with a travel agent, and explaining your situation to them. They'll be able to help you out. Also, why not save up for a year, and take your honeymoon around your first anniversary? This is what my fiance and I are doing, as we're also paying for our own wedding. I know it's not the traditional thing to do, but you deserve to take the honeymoon you want. Whatever you decide to do, good luck, congratulations, and have fun!
  4. Fill your gas tank up, and wherever the tank takes you, stop and stay for a week. It will be a different place than where you are from and they have VERY nice hotels with whirpools and regular pools everywhere! Go sightseeing while you are there and take plenty of pictures!!!! It is cheap AND different.
  5. travelocity.com has packages for flights to Paris plus four nights in a hotel from $1271. per person. You can purchase extra nights for a little more per night. You don't have to ask your guests for cash. If you do not register for any gifts, most will call and ask your mom, his mom, and your best friend what you want. You can have them say - as long as you're asking - cash - they would like to go to Paris for their honeymoon. Any by the way, what is this with brides (not you, I am venting)registering for every little thing, dish towels, dishcloths, measuring spoons, etc.? This leaves nothing up to the imagination of the gift-giver. Don't brides think that that is tacky? It seems like she wants just the measuring spoons that she picked out, and no others. I think that's a little like just giving the guests your order to fill, like at a fast food place.
  6. Do what my husband and I did. We just went to a cabin in Arkansas and stayed about a week and enjoyed every minute of it. We stayed at a place that was near a lot of things and it only took us about 10-15 mins to get to the nearest town. We are saving up for another one, but when we go, we are going to make it our second honeymoon. We had sooo much fun doing that b/c we weren't rushed like some of these other honeymoons you do. Just have fun b/c you will have a blast b/c you are going to be with your special someone. :D good luck and congrats..
  7. Look into Travelzoo.com. They have a lot of great deals. We are also paying for our wedding, which is this November, so we're taking our honeymoon July next year. We're going to France and Switzerland, so by then, we will have money saved up and enough air miles for a free ticket! No one says you have to take it right after the wedding. You can stay at an affordable bed and breakfast right after and plan your "dream honeymoon" for a later date.
  8. My husband and I don't have a lot of money, but we go to Europe at least once every year for a couple of weeks. We do it by staying in an apartment, taking trains within Europe, buying food at local markets instead of eating out every meal. You can see some of our travels and how we do it at http://www.travelingtuttens.com - and congratulations on your wedding!
  9. You say you aren't a beach person, but I'm still going to suggest Mexico. You don't have to stay in a resort. My bf and I are going backpacking in Mexico this summer. We're going to Mexico City and a few other inland towns. There's a lot of culture, great food, architecture, museums, etc, as well as the ruins and pyramids. It's more than just beaches! It was *very* cheap to fly down there, as well, and we're flying from a lot further than Texas. Check out www.lonelyplanet.com They have a great forum (the Thorn Tree) and there's a branch specifically for budget travel. If you fly to London, you can get very cheap flights to anywhere in Europe through RyanAir or EasyJet. (I flew from London to Faro, Portugal for only 50 pounds, and also flew to Krakow, Poland for less than 10 pounds.) NYC is seriously expensive so doing both NYC and Europe may be a bit pricey. Also, try a website like www.travelcuts.ca (has info for Americans as well) for really cheap flights. I buy all my flights through them and get some great deals.
