Are there any winter holidays besides Christmas for which a tree is decorated?

I am wondering because I keep hearing the use of the "politically correct" term "Holiday Tree". Do any holidays besides Christmas use a decorated tree in their celebrations?

  1. i thik that this might be offended by the fact that Christmas is Christ's birthday so they changed the name of the tree to winter holiday tree so that they can still get presents. I , how ever, am be overjoyed to celebrat Jesus' birthday on Christmas (that is the true meaning of it) so happy birthday Jesus I LOVE YOU (and Jesus LOVES YOU too) haha i sound crazy :P but everything i am saying is true :]
  2. No.Someone wants to take Christ out of Christmas, and I say if they succeed that nation will come under God's judgment and it will happen quickly.Because he says in his word,he will strive with us but not forever.I worry about these things because everyone seems to be just laughing about it really but the good suffer with the bad and it is our job to keep a balance where we can.
  3. Yes, there those who celebrate the winter solstice and a tree is decorated for that occasion (it is where the modern Christmas tree came from) Most ot the "traditional" decorations and colors came from that celebration also. If there are others, I am not aware of them. Happy WhateveryouCelebrate.cr
  4. Yes. The Christmas trees roots are in Saturnalia, the Roman mid-winter festival, when trees outside were not cut down, but decorated with silver, and evergreen trimmings were brought into the home to decorate it for the festival. Many Christmas traditions come from Saturnalia. Modern Pagans celebrate the Solstice, usually under the Germanic name Yule, and decorate a tree indoors. In my house, we call it the Yule tree.
