Looking for a unique, romantic vacation getaway in the USA in a mild climate with a smaller population? My wife and I are looking for a fun, romantic and unique spot to spend a week celebrating our first year of marriage. The location has to be in the US. Neither of us enjoy hot summers or large cities so the usual destinations like beaches in FL, CA along with big cities Vegas are out. We enjoy history, dining, and outdoor activities (hiking etc). Our budget is around $3000 total. Any suggestions would greatly appreciated!

Does anyone know of any romantic vacation spots that are affordable and maybe somewhere warm? I am trying to plan a romantic getaway vacation for my boyfriend and mine's one year anniversary in the beginning of July. We don't have much money, so it would have to be affordable, but still nice, you know? I would like to go somewhere warm and sunny but also a place that has a lot of attractions. Does anyone know of a good place to go, or maybe some websites I can look at?
Ideas for a suprise for my husband on our romantic getaway? My husband and I are going on a romantic vacation Labor Day weekend to a cabin on the river. I want to have something for him when we get there or some kind of suprise for him but all I can think of is like a new fishing pole or something!? Anyone have any sugesstions? I want it to be sweet, but something he will actually like....

If you know were any of those kinds of resorts are that would b a big help. Thanks again.
What are some romantic vacation ideas? My husband and I are starting to plan our wedding anniverary for next October, we'll have been married for 5 years (which for us that within itself is a miracle) and together for 8 years. We got married when I was 17 and he was 18, and never really got a honeymoon, so now we feel we kind of deserve it. What would be a romantic 5 day getaway for us to embark on? : ) Thanks for your help! PS. Our anniversary falls on October 21st.
3-4 day romantic getaway? Any ideas for a romantic 3-4 day getaway vacation? I'd prefer to stay in the US because I'd hate to waste a half a day if not more flying.

Any help would be apprecitiated. Thanks for all the great answers, but let me clarify a bit..Overseas trips are out b/c she would like to wait until our daughter gets older so we can take her with us. Family or Romantic Vacation? Am I wrong in asking for a romantic getaway with my wife of 7 years? She has 3 kids, ages 16,17 and 19. We have never had more than one or two nights alone in the 7 years that we've been married. She refuses to live outside of her parents house, forcing me to stay there if we remain together. Last fall I finally talked her into a week getaway, just her and I. We started making plans, but she changed them to stay somewhere closer, but still for 4 nights. Now she said that we need to do a vacation with the kids instead. I've told her that we NEED the time away, and she doesn't seem to understand that it's important to spend time alone, without the kids and her family around. We argued about it, and now she says that I'm being selfish by not wanting to include the kids. We haven't had a long family vacation in several years because of finances and we are now finally making more than enough to cover a trip like this. Am I being selfish? Your opinion? We do a lot of weekend trips out of town. Whenever I suggest we go somewhere alone, either she says that we can't afford it, or if her mother likes the idea and wants to go my wife will agree to go. It's happened more than once where she would say no to me, then ask if I still wanted to it, when her mother wants to.. We don't need to live with her parents, but she makes excuses every time I suggest that we get our own place. Years ago, I left her because of that, but since I still love her, I came back and learned to cope (mostly find ways to do things away from the house).
What cruise line would be appropriate for a romantic getaway? I'm planning a vacation for later this year and I was wondering what cruise line is the best for couples. We are looking for cruiselines that are not so much family oriented, because we are looking to get away from kids for a while. Also something that is relatively inexpensive. I KNOW all cruises are rather pricy, but just give me some ideas of where to start. I've never been on a cruise before and I'm clueless as to where to begin my search. Any suggestions?
Need Romantic Getaway ideas for within the Continental US...? Hi Hubby and I want to go somewhere special for our next anniversary. It will be our first trip without the kids in a long time. Where is a romantic place to vacation within the Continental US? Someplace without snow! We will however, be travelling in August, so snow will probably not be an issue. Help us out here people. Thanks! We have been to Vegas (and love it), just looking for something different, where we can have some quality alone time and also have fun.

Romantic Getaway for marriage proposal? want to take my girlfriend on a vacation in late May after she graduates from college. While on vacation, I plan on asking her to marry me. I need specific locations where to go on the vacation. Looking for romantic locales. Cost is not a concern. I 've already consider Paris and proposing under the Eiffel Tower. Background: Dating her for almost 3 years. The last year has been a long distance relationship; although we've been able to get together about once a month. We've talked about marriage before and we were going to wait until she graduates.
Romantic Vacation in the Maritimes ? Hi Everybody I'd like to surprise my long-term boyfriend with a week-end stay in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick or PEI. A lot of the romantic hotels I've found look nice but they're in the middle of nowhere, and I'd really prefer a place that offers other stuff to do (like a theme/water park, for instance). We love just spending time together but the trip would be so much better if there were other activities nearby. So I'm looking for a romantic getaway in the Maritimes with some fun attractions nearby. Any suggestions?? We are both 20
Last minute romantic vacation in the U.S.... Need ideas on where to go? Ok, so I live in Dallas, TX, and the kids will be with family for spring break so we thought it would be the perfect opportunity for a romantic getaway. We need to travel anywhere between March 13th - 19th. We don't have passports so we need to stay in the Country. I have no idea where we should go. We were thinking about just driving to San Antonio, but then we thought we want to do something that we couldn't just pick up and do on any weekend. Anyone have any good ideas? We don't want some place that will be overly crowded for spring break. With the weather being so crazy lately we're not sure where to go. We were going to go to Hawaii but saw on the news last night that its flooding because of heavy rains. Please help...Any suggestions?

Are there good vacation spots that cater to people specifically without children? It seems like people take their kids EVERYWHERE, and even the tried and trusted vacation hotspots now brag that they are "family friendly". Are there ANY nice, romantic, getaway vacation spots left on earth that aren't being overrun by people who insist on bringing their kids EVERYWHERE with them, and selfishly ruining the vacation holiday experience for everyone else? I laughingly thought maybe Antartica or the Galapogas Islands or even the Great Pyramids... until someone directed me to a web site where people were complaining how many kids there were there too (and, because the little kids were bored and miserable, they were obnoxious and ruining it for everyone else). I mean, IT'S BECOMING WORSE THAN SECOND HAND SMOKE! And frankly, it's more annoying. Everywhere you go, people HAVE to drag their screaming infants and little kids along. So you end up spending a fortune to "get away" only to have it ruined by some other people's bratty kids. Is there any place left?

my romantic getaway is ruined :((? me and and boyfriend were planning a romantic getaway at the seaside, just the two of us, but now we're forced (don't ask why, that's not important) to bring an other couple with us. this sucks. is there any way this could still be a romantic trip, even though it's not just the 2 of us anymore? I mean, I was planning to do spontaneous things, like ask him to pull over the car and kiss for like 10 minutes, I guess that's out of the question now. so, you think our whole vacation is going to to ruined because of those two? yeah, there is time for romance, but not all the time... I thought a romantic getaway was about 24/7 romance...
want to take a romantic vacation for our birthdays-in eastern usa? ok. so me and my husband have been together for 6 years, and we need to do something spontaneous. our birthdays are 11 days apart in june, and we live in alabama.. i want to plan a romantic 4-5 day getaway to somewhere that we have never been before,we will be driving and we do have a budget, so we cant go toooo far. we have been to chattanooga tennessee, savannah ga, and destin florida. thats abouuut it. but i want to go somewhere new that we have never been to before. we like the outdoors, amazing scenery, wildlife, hiking, camping, swimming , seeing wild animals, anything that has do do with the outdoors really, and we like seeing all the stores we dont have here, so i guess somewhere accessible to a big city would be nice too, but we dont want to be in a super crowded busy city part of town, we want peaceful and quiet. i have been thinking of moving to illinois or indiana lately and have been wondering what those states are like? and we dont really see any snow, so if theres anywher between canada and florida that has snow in june, that would be amazing.. soo..what do yall think? where should we go? doesnt have to be snowy..just a plus..we really like mountainy warm places. where we can hike and swim and go to beautiful places and never get tired of the scenery.
Where can me and my boyfriend go on vacation? We both live in ohio and would like to go on vacation this summer. We want to drive but not to far a few states away is good for us. I was thinking about Canada. Like going to Vancouver. But I think you have to fly there? Because its and Island. Give me some suggestions for a romantic getaway....
Why does my husband prefer going on family vacations more then romantic getaways with me? I have been married to my husband for almost two years. He just left me behind to go on a family vacation with his children from a previous marriage. They are ages 11 and 8. He also will be vacationing with his sister and parents. I could not get off work for this particular week, but they left me behind anyway. On the phone today, my husband stated that most men prefer family vacations over romantic getaways, because they prefer making family memories over intimacy with their wife. Again, this man crushes me over and over. But again I could be wrong maybe most men actually do prefer going on family vacations more then romantic getaways. He also said which I found odd that you can't have sex on family vacations. Hmmm, what kind of person have I married. I am considering filing for divorce, and I need some advice. I ask that you consider the fact that I'm devastated by all that's happening to me lately, and please be gentle with your advice. Thank you so much...

A friend has invited herself on my vacation? Help!? About two years ago my boyfriend began collecting airline miles. We have been talking and planning on spending them on a one-week vacation in a specific vacation destination before I go back to school. It so happened that about a year ago my friend moved away to a popular vacation destination that is kind of one the way to where we are going and wants people to come visit her. I contacted her a few months ago, letting her know we are thinking of going on vacation and wanted to include a stop in her town/area as part of it, but weren't expecting her to put us up. I would feel bad staying at someones house and then asking them to take me to tourist places and feeling like a demanding guest. Her and her partner seem to like to be the leaders and pick where we go and where to take us. Also last time I visited her, we kind of sat around and I felt a little trapped and obligated to stay with them all day since we were staying at their place. I would rather have just stayed in a hotel and come out to her house for one day during the trip so I wouldn't feel like someone else was the activities director of my vacation. But my boyfriend said we couldn't afford to stay in two hotels, so the choices were stay at her place for half of the week and get to have a hotel for the second part of the trip, stay at her place the entire week, or take a shorter trip and not see her at all. I chose the first option. She also insisted we stay at her place, so we talked it over and I decided I could handle 3 days of being a "go with the flow" guest, letting her call the shots, and then we would move on to our original destination and have a romantic vacation just the two of us, with no plans made until we got there. I sent her an email with the flight info about 3 months ago and stated that after we hang out with her and her partner, we were going to another vacation destination somewhat nearby for a romantic getaway and a last hoorah for me before school starts. I thought that made it clear we are only spending the first half of the week with her. Today I received an e-mail from her saying she is so excited for our visit and is hoping she and her partner can come to our second destination with us, because they both need a vacation too. I am kind of freaking out! I love her dearly and am really looking forward to visiting her, but frankly, an entire week with anyone besides my boyfriend would not feel like a vacation to me, it would be feel like a field trip. I am not sure what part of romantic weekend she didn't understand. She hasn't mentioned flights or hotels yet, so I am guessing she is hoping they can save up the money in time for our visit in a few months. We already have our hotel and rental car booked for the second half of the week. I don't want to hurt her feelings, but I don't want to spend my entire vacation with her and her boyfriend, whether they tried to commandeer our time or not, I want that last part of the trip to be romantic, just my boyfriend and I. This is actually the biggest vacation we have taken just the two of us. How do I tell her nicely and CLEARLY so she understands once and for all this is not an open invitation. I feel terrible, considering we are staying at her house, but I told her she didn't have to put us up. Help! Thanks so much. So the wording I have is in a reply to her email which also inlcuded a lot of catching up type news. At the end of that I threw in: "I didn't realize you were also planning a trip to Romantic Destination. How fun! We would love to plan a trip with you guys for another time, but we've already booked our hotel and rental car, etc. We have really been needing a romantic trip, just the two of us and it just made sense to do it while we were already out there and have the time off, etc. But we can't wait to see you in Your Town and hang out! Miss You! Love, Me" How is that? Haven't sent it yet.
Romantic getaway in Grand Cayman in late November...? I am looking for recommendations for activities/excursions as well as advice for a reasonable hotel on the seven mile beach...(preferably a hotel with a jacuzzi in the room)...I want this to be a memorable vacation without breaking the bank!
Romantic Getaway? Me and my hubby are planning to have a vacation in July, whever do you think is a best place to go to? We're planning to go either US, Canada or Mexico. Maybe something like a private getaway, where we can hike and do outdoor stuff, but something where we don't have to camp out, where there are cabins, showers and airconditioning. The prize doesn't matter as long as its in North America. What do you think is a good place?
Romantic Getaway Less than 7 hours from Chicago? I'm trying to plan a mini vacation for this weekend for my 3 year wedding anniversary. We live in Chicago and don't want to have to drive too far. Hubby prefers a hotel within walking distance to a nice restaurant and I prefer a quaint little town. Hubby is anti B&B, which makes it hard to find a place on Lake Michigan. The problem I'm also running into is that a lot of places are booked up already. We also don't have to stay at the same place both Friday and Saturday nights. I have no problem staying in one town and going to visit another. Any suggestions??
Where is a good vacation spot in Tennessee? I'm not wanting Nashville, since we now reside there. We've been to Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge. I want a nice, kinda romantic getaway, or a place for a couple to go and relax. My husband loves go-carts, anything cars, and heck, I like it all! So I;m up to anything. Do you know any little secluded places to visit? Interested in going the week of July 4th. Not looking to spend a fortune, but still have a good time. Let me know what you come up with, and what there is to do there. Thanks!
Caribbean Vacation - Getaway? My best friend and I got boyfriends at the same time, they are really amazing guys and we are all very good friends. Great vacation packages for couples? My parents will celebrate their 25th anniversary this year of being married. I want to do something really special for them. I want to know if there are any great websites I can go to that will help me with planning romantic getaways. I would like them to go on a vacation that has an itinerary/schedule of things to do. For example, a day full of events where transportation, food, entertainment, etc... are all included in the package. Any suggestions?
looking for a romantic mountain getaway spot? my boyfriend and i are looking to take a vacation this winter and we would like to go to someplace wintery, like a mountain resort or lodge or something like that. we were thinking of someplace like Colorado/Wyoming/Montana, etc. (in the united states!) however, we don't know of any good places to go and searching online is not doing much good. we want to know of a place that it a little secluded and romantic but a place where there is still stuff to do that a couple can enjoy (hopefully a place with a hot tub also). we are not looking for a ski resort because we wont be doing any skiing while we are on vacation. maybe next time but this time we are just looking for a relaxing getaway. our budget isnt super cheap but we cant afford a $3000 a week place either. any help and suggestions would be great.
